The Nyonya Kebaya is a beautiful, translucent, figure-hugging embroidered blouse worn with a batik sarong by Peranakan ladies.

It is this and much more. A nyonya kebaya is a work of art, a labour of love, a heritage, a traditional costume that is timeless. An attire for all occasions, it is elegant, feminine, alluring, sensual, glamorous and fashionable for all ages.

However, an authentic nyonya kebaya tends to come with a price tag that is not within the budget of many people. My passion for it has evolved into a home-based business of making affordable nyonya kebayas. Except for the Exclusive Collection, I tailor every piece. I sew them as close as possible to the traditional style using princess cut (pesak) and French seams.

Materials are of select Indonesian embroidered fabric with intricate lace-work edging in floral, fauna and geometric patterns for the hems, sleeves and lapels. I do not make to measure but take orders in standard sizes of small, medium and large, which would fit most people.

American GQ believe they've found the not-so-secret formula to selling copies of their magazine: take one supermodel, preferably of the Victoria's Secret variety, strip her down to her bare essentials (or nothing) as not to be outdone by European titles' nudity tangent, work the word 'sex' into a headline and place it (obviously) next to said model on the cover. It's a formula bound to find success, and one we're definitely appreciative of as GQ makes Australian model Miranda Kerr their June 2010 cover girl.

Infused with nudity it may be, though while Miranda's perfect-as-a-peach bum makes a showing we're not yet sure it'll live up to previous instances of Miranda throwing off her girl-next-door image such as her time at the beach for Victoria's Secret or her recent shoot for i-D.

Stolen Moments is the title of the Sretsis Spring 2010/2011 lookbook; and stolen moments they are. If each little scene, with its porcelain whites, pastel pinks and dove greys, frozen in time and on its own little patch of ground, reminds you of something then that something is probably a Lladro figurine. Such was the inspiration behind the collection.

The pieces are utterly pretty and feminine - I particularly love the sheer skirts with scalloped hems, hearts and cute pussy-cat prints (so very Miu Miu). But most of all do I love that colour palette... it's like silk chiffon spun from fairy-floss.

..this is what they'd look like. Except they'd probably be made of rare genuine ostrich skin and crocodile leather, and would set you back a few grand a pop. So no, these are not Tom Ford but a well designed and unique little accessory that quickly grows on you as an elegant way to carry around, well, you-know-what. At a minimal price.

The aptly (if not so subtly) named Tampurse is an accessory which proves to be both practical and aesthetic. The Tampurse closes firmly and keeps all your 'feminine items' from spilling around in your bag (and let's face it, there's nothing worse than reaching into your bag for your purse and having rogue tampons jump out like little white ninjas onto the checkout counter). There are some slightly over-glamorous designs that I wouldn't personally use - but the vintage inspired selection look like they might just as easily carry the slim cigarettes of some 1940s screen starlet.

When we attended The Spirit of the Black Dress launch last year, we were nothing short of impressed. Ten beautifully designed dresses were showcased in a sleek exhibition space, giving credence to the talent of the designers who created them. Unsupisingly, the event was a big success; so much so that it will be on again in March as part of LMFF (L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival).
